This is OUR America

I was genuinely moved by his speech. I had tears in my eyes at the end of it! The notion that a politician is actually talking about history and anger and the legacy of slavery and the immigrant experience and linking it ALL to OUR America is refreshing, inspiring, and brilliant!

you know, I love that the "national dialogue," or maybe it's just MY national dialogue, is moving from one of the lowest common denominator to one of aspiration & actually raising the expectations of the public. It's so encouraging that a speech that held such complexity has hit the air (according to the Today Show, it's gotten more YouTube hits than Wright's comments that prompted it).

finally too a public refusal to throw the flawed loved one under the bus. i was stunned to see barack's bravery in claiming his pastor (and grandmother). to publicly proclaim that loving people and not their behavior is real. his honesty is rare

thank you, barack!
