Colored Gals Aint in Style No More (and pedalstizing buffoons)

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/14/fashion/shows/14race.html?_r=1&oref=slogin&pagewanted=all

Did anyone see this article? It touches on the fact that black girls "need not apply" in the fashion industry -- just don't have THE look.

Then it got me to thinking about the images of people of color in general that the media aggressively and willingly promotes -- like Flavor (Flavor Flav that is).

Why does this negro command top ratings?

WHAT THE F@#K!! That is unacceptable! Have you seen "Devil Wears Prada"? well, there is a scene with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway where Anne appears to be laughing at how much thought goes into the color of a belt for an outfit...well, Meryle proceeds to read her and tell her that the cerulean color of the little frumpy sweater she is wearing was chosen by the very fashionistas in that room a few years ago. That is, the colors chosen in that room become the colors worn on all the runways and then eventually find their way to our little "ready-to-wear" bins at our local TJ MAXX...anyhoo, i say all of that to reiterate what was said in that article about how much of the fashion world infiltrates so much of what we wear and what we deem appropriate to wear. Yet, it is unfortunate that just as cerulean has gone "out of style" so can different colors of skin (except white of course). But I am sure "I Love New York 2" will have the highest ratings on VH1....we will never go "out of style" when it comes to making a fool of oneself!
